cool furnace

I finally got a cool day I could go out and test our furnace in our new to us TT. not too happy with it. the heat coming from the four floor vents feel like it is a heat pump. not very hot. just warm. It does have four vents in the floor as mentioned but I thought it would be hotter than just warm air. guess I will have to look and see if the thing is burning on all cylinders or not. I am trying to do some research on how big the furnace is so I can justify tearing into it. I It is a keystone mountaineer 2009 31rld model. I spent a few minutes looking it up to see what size furnace is in it.

  • Insufficient heat is typically a gas flow problem.

How do burners on stove and water heater flame appear? Should be strong, steady, blue flame with tingles of yellow at tips

Also check the propane line to furnace for any sharp bends/crimped portions that would restrict the gas flow.
Faulty regulator?.....furnace is a gas hog
Low gas pressure.......should be 11" WC with other gas appliances in service.
  • Since you just bought this used unit, pull off the air intake grill, because sometimes a mis-informed owner may think that placing a furnace air filter in the intake (like residential furnaces have) is a good idea to keep the furnace clean.

In reality it slows the intake air flow which screws with I believe something called a 'sail switch' which causes the furnace not to light off.

Trust me...as I did this once and learned a valuable lesson at 3 am in the Mountains during the winter time. Can you say COLD! I was to blame for installing an air filter!
  • Mine just blows "warm" air vs "hot" air as well, but after just a little while, it will run you out if you don't turn it down. Maybe it is doing as it should. How long did you leave it on? Others will chime in I'm sure.
