Johnson Controls adds the electrolyte in the USA and on goes the sticker. OPTIMA cannot do that because the battery leaves the Mexican plant intact.
Does your Ford truck say MADE IN MEXICO? 99% of it is in fact.
Does RAMCAR say half of it's batteries are made in the Philippines?
When I visited the LTH facility in Monterrey I saw flatbeds loaded with palletized batteries BEARING THE JOHNSON CONTROLS LABEL. And other brands, including Interstate, Sears, Duralast, and more than I can recall. 2oldman wrote:
This is what irks me. Costco typically has premium items at a value price. Going just for absolute lowest price, features and quality is more Walmart style.
They sell whatever is the cheapest deal they can get.
I plan to get mine elsewhere next time.- moishehExplorerMy Interstate/Kirklands are made in the USA. I checked the shelves at my local Costco and none of the batteries are marked made in Mexico.
Moisheh - wa8yxmExplorer IIICosco sells batteries mostly from one of two suppliers.
Johnson Controls (Interstate,Kirkland and many other brands)
US Battery (US battery, Kirkland, and many other brands)
The differences between the two companies are not worth mentioning.
Found out yesterday that the Duracell Batteries sold by Batteries Plus are made by East Penn/Deka... (I have Dekas in this house right now) East Penn has the only lead smelter in the US,, all others import. - wcjeepExplorerI just bought Exide from Home Depot for an Explorer. $40 cheaper than area auto parts locations. Unknown how that compares to Costco.

Yup, a old friend just bought Interstate's from the local RV shop vrs CostCo because of that difference. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerJohnson Outta Control, is getting most of their batteries under contract from Mexico. LTH. But they are shipping in recycled lead. R.R. car fulls. If they could get batteries in Bangladesh with zero environmental controls and five dollar a day labor, they would do it in a heartbeat.

The 6v Golf Carts were $89 with 15.00 core. I've been told Interstate's are Johnson Control batteries.
At one point Kirklands where made by Johnson Control's. Quite possible not all the time though.
