- wnjjExplorer III'm going with 70 also.
Look how the flange is larger at the top and bottom on a 70 but not on a 60. That's the only difference between them I could spot in the photo lineup. Definitely not the right shape for an 80. - buckyExplorer IIIf it's not a DD take the seal out and get the number off of it and take the seal and the number to napa with you. The bolt pattern on the long edge is also different but your cover is so dirty I can't tell which one it is. See how on one the 4 holes are evenly spaced and on the other they are not?
- Steve_83406ExplorerWhen in doubt, drain the diff, take the cover off, clean it up, and carry it with you to the autoparts store. Once they match it, you will know for sure.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerDo it the smart way:
PRINT OUT YOUR IMAGE
With a ruler measure the distance from the extreme top edge of the cover to the extreme top edge of the filler plug.
Now do the same from the bottom of the filler hole to the extreme bottom edge of the cover.
Got it?
Do both images. Two photos.
The relationship of the two measurements will tell you the height orientation of the filler plug to the cover.
Compare the two RELATIONSHIPS. Percentages, whatever you care to call it.
The relationships are different. Cover to cover.
What do you come up with? - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

X-2 - Dave2001ExplorerIn your picture, check the bottom right hand web. The model number should be a number stamped there (60,70).
- JimInMichExplorerThanx guys, and thanx Biscuit, that might come in handy!
- RLS7201Explorer IIClean up the crud around the bottom 2 bolts. There should be an ID tag there. My Dana 60 has an ID tag.
