Yes, the F250 and 350 are exactly the same except for the overloads and blocks on the 350. even the wheels and tires and brakes are the same. the difference is in the GVWR which is different between the 2 trucks mainly so people have a choice of weight ratings.

I guess in TX and MN the persecution against trucks is not as prevalent as it is on the east coast. There are many areas even out here in the boonies where signs are posted " NO trucks over 3/4 ton" Maybe the infrastructure can't handle a load, who knows. I'm not going out in the rain to take a picture to prove it to you. I really don't care what you think about the whole thing. Heck, I know of fancy neighborhoods on the mainland that don't allow ANY trucks to be parked in them except service trucks in the daytime hours..
Now to insurance. If you search this forum you will find multiple reports of insurance companies not wanting to write one tons, or having higher rates.

I have an older SuperDuty F250 diesel with the Tow Package and the same springs as the F350's. The single rear wheel F350 truck has a larger rear axle tube than my truck and larger bearings. Dual rear wheel F350's have much more gutsy rear axles and huge bearings.

I'm comfortable towing a 12K dry weight fifth wheel with a 2K Pin weight. Any larger fifth wheel, and dual rear wheel 1 ton trucks are warranted.

My 3/4 ton truck is really a bastard truck--without the ability to carry the Pin weights of many very popular fifth wheel trailers with 3K Pin weights and 13K-14K total weights.

Irritating. People come on here and have no idea what they are talking about, yet want to put the 2 cents in.

The F250 & F350 are NEARLY the identical truck. The F350 has OVERLOAD springs which do nothing unless you add enough weight to compress the regular springs down enough for the overload springs to make contact with the stoppers. Go back to the dealer and look under the two different trucks and compare and you will see what I'm talking about. The F350 has taller blocks under the springs and makes the truck sit higher.

The F350 needs about 6'9" of clearance to get into most parking garages. 7' is ideal.

I would opt for the F350. It gives you the capacity if you need it and doesn't hurt a thing (except a little bit extra ride height) if you don't need it.

Now take your beans and ruby shoe stupid comment and go away.

I know it to be fact that at least on the SDs from 99-04 or 05 that the springs and brakes are exactly the same part numbers. I can't speak for the newer models. Only you can make your decision. Look at the 5ers you see on the roads and in the campgrounds, there are a heck of a lot of 3/4 trucks pulling them. However, 3/4 tons don't come with hips, and hips are good in a truck pulling heavy.

Ford's ratings are based on the wheel package available for these trucks which is also the weakest component. Due to marketing, selecting the higher rated F350 wheels still leaves the F250 with a lower rated sticker.

Frame: Same between F250, F350 SRW & DRW
Suspension: Same between F250 with camper package & F350 SRW
Axle/brakes: Same between F250 and F350 SRW
Transmission/Engine: Same between F250, F350 SRW & DRW
