If the DC-DC draws 60 to make 40 so 20 is "wasted", and you can change that to 45 to make 40 so only 5 is "wasted", how does this help with charging the batteries? You still have the 40 max output.
I suppose you save some gas for the truck while driving when the alternator is not working so hard, don't know how much that would be . . . .
