Cracked Suburban water tank
OK, so I'm finally getting the trailer ready for the first trip of the year, flushed all the water lines, filled the water heater etc.
No problem till I drained the water heater, when I went inside the trailer there was some water on the floor, traced it back to the water tanks. At first I thought the caulking that goes between the tank and outer frame was the problem but then I noticed this crack below the anode.

Anyone seen this before? This crack is not actually in the water heater tank, right? Is it something I can live with? What would cause a crack there?
... or should I just change the tank before the trip?
Had RV's since 1980, had our old trailer 13 years, this is the first time I've had any issues with a water heater.
It's a 10 gallon tank, is there any reason I can't put in a 10 gallon Atwoond They don't have anodes, right? I like the idea of being able to put in a drain valve, removing the anode to drain the tank is a PITA.
And if I do change it, which brand is better, suburban or Atwood?
Thanks in advance
