Odyssey (and other 'dual purpose' AGM) are good in applications where you need high discharge rates (from 0.3C up to 10C), not as a general house battery where you are typically discharging at < 0.1C.
The suggestion was in reference to BFL's application where he needed a battery primarily to support a 0.65C draw, but only for a few minutes at a time. A dual purpose AGM would be a good solution for this application with a Peukert coefficient around 1.08. The battery he ended up with seems to be around 1.3.
