But Beta trumped VHS, Maybe they just haven't been properly promoted??

I think it has to do with cost. I do agree that SiO2 would be better than a regual flooded battery , unless there is a down side that I havent seen. they wont work in a car or truck as one battery can only be charged at 25a and more vehicles now a days have 100 to 160 amp altanators. so aside from the automotive industry using so many batteries that it brings the price down due to bulk, that may be the short coming. simple cost to build.
