OK Now for some discussion...
I've seen some cheapo panel meters stop registering below 8-volts. So no voltage reading does not necessary mean 0.0 keep this in context what I just wrote regards panel meters not battery care.
Today's batteries have full porous plate envelopes. Meaning they all far less suseptable to dendrite bridging and plate shed bridging. Resistant not proof.
I declare a body dead after listening and finding no heartbeat. The same with deciding how damaged a battery is. Asssssssssumptions can be sooooo embarrassing. The batteries should be charged to meet specifications of cell gravity. If they cannot be restored to 1.280 then it's core-time for Bonzo.
Can't charge and check cell gravity? Then it's guess-time. Take a flashlight on the next excursion.
