Just last week I was sitting at the bar having a cold one with a friend who had just picked up a new phone on Straight Talk.
Interestingly he had no cell service nor data and I had full bars and 4G while sitting right beside him, I am on AT&T. So although they may use AT&T and Verizon's networks / towers, there is a difference somewhere.
It can be either ATT or Verizon based on the model of phone, but not both. Even my Moto G which can work with either GSM (ATT) or CDMA (Verizon) is limited to the one I selected when I started the service.
