30 Days Straight

I planned on 7 days...ended up staying 30.
Oops.

Dad is in the hospital in Montreal. I live north of Toronto...but I own a piece of lake front north of Montreal.
So the idea was to go camp on the land...do a little clearing and visit Dad.
Dad got bad. Then he got worse.
So I ended up commuting to and from the hospital....about 75 minutes one way.
But that was not my problem. I needed to find a dump site after 8 days as I was taking everything for granted. Found a spot for $23 to dump and get water and then made it 22 days non stop. Didn't want to have to move again. But man.... I was full. And water was almost gone.
And I was boon docking....no power. Lived on 2 40W solar panels and 30 lbs of LP along with 6 camping cans of LP.
The day I left...I was empty.
You certainly learn to conserve when you need to.
All in all...I loved it. Wife came once to visit and replenished my clothes shortage.

    Glad your dad is improving.

    The town we live in is having the road in front of our house repaved, and the contractor ground it up in May so we took the 5er to the lake an hour north of us. We ended up staying there 39 straight nights, most boondocking. We also did some dry camping, and some in the campground, but driving in to work every day. They are still working on the street.

    We ended up spending 108 nights in the 5er this year, it is a record for us. Probably a record for the number of nights in campgrounds too.

    Glad he pulled through and is recovering, may he make a full recovery and enjoy many more pain free days =)

    Dad's been out of the hospital now for 2 weeks.
    I put him at 65%.
    His personality changed after spending most of the summer in a hospital....but he is slowly coming back.

    I have 4 more days to camp before I wrap it up for the season.

    That puts me at 58 days for 2019....all boondocking.

    2020 will probably be close to 120 days (boondocking) as I will be building a new house at the lake. Occupancy hopefully mid September.

    Glad your dad is doing better. I'm also glad that you had a place kinda close to him. You did well conserving everything. I don't think that I could get by on that little bit of solar power.

    Now someday you can do it again when you can have more fun and relaxation.

    Thanks for the well wishes.
    Dad just at his first meal in 2 months today.

    All soft stuff....but it's going down the esophagus!

    After the 8 days...I went 22!

    Used paper plates,re-used cutlery, pee'd outside, bathed in the lake...etc.

    Glad your dad is doing better.

    We are lucky that we can work anywhere, so when my Mom went downhill in Arizona and we were meandering thru Texas, we headed over and spent the last few weeks with her.

    It was great to be able to sit with her in her hospital room and work while she rested but then at night we could go home and sleep in our own bed.
