For those wondering, the battery code is a string of digits heat stamped on the top of the battery. Sometimes it's on top of a post or on the side. With Interstate it's on the upper left corner and is a bit hard to read. Sometimes the order of the digits is different. A=January, B=February, etc. up to M=December. The letter I is usually skipped. The number next to the letter is the year of shipment. For example, B0=Feb 2000. Ours says A3EFP meaning the 1st month of 2013.
Interstate says the date code is used to determine the start of the warranty if there is no receipt of purchase available. Our deep cycle marine/RV battery has a warranty period of 12 months which means that the warranty had expired by 3 months at the time we took possession of our TT. Seems to be the responsibility of the RV dealer for putting a battery that old into service. We'll see what the dealer has to say today.
Seems like the RV industry is the only place this sort of thing can happen... :R
dougrainer, excellent info., thanks.
