dc power
I cannot switch on the dc from the batteries. Nothing works. I have full power (ac & dc) when plugged to shore. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

You should print out this voltage chart. Anything below 12.1v, to me, is a dead battery. Anything below 12.3v, you need to seriously consider charging.
