X2 I agree.

Since you have power from your house (shore power) why not connect a battery charger to your engine battery and recharge the battery that way? It is a whole lot safer, easier and won't potentially harm your charging system.

Even my 2008 Winnbago and current have a switch to start it off the house batterie, I am sure you will find the switch on your dashboard

It will work unless the dead battery is shorted internally and then your asking for serious problems, like fried alt. or fire.
