The 20% - .05% rules are linear abstracts. Just like roentgen radiation exposure. Less amplitude or higher amplitude has to be always factored with time
How many 90% DOD = 1 exposure of 50% DOD rested for one month?
Couple that abstraction with a person's personal preferences and there is a near infinity or permutations to ponder.
At absorbsion limit, the 20% rule becomes moot. So deal with the 100% SOC instead. There is a minimum in minutes to deal with when the 20% factor disappears. concentrate on that.
As the 40 amp limit of the power supply diminishes due to SOC there is X number of minutes let's call it 180 until the charge is finished at one half percent acceptance.
When remote boondocking the safest and easiest way to do it is with a 40 amp power supply and cheap economical generator, in the dark. I used to jam max abs in with a Yamaha diesel genset but I would be damned before I would run it for hours to supply 20-amps charge rate. The HF would have done it for 1/30th the fuel, noise, and wearout cost.
All of your permutations are human selections with positive and negative attributes in every decision. Charge every day or every 4th brings forth decisions. Choose one than live with it.
Here's mine...
Sarurate charge until amperage is within the capability of the tiny generator's abilities.
Run the tiny generator until it automatically shuts down at or very near to the .5% amp rule.
I do this because of laziness and I do not like to hear a generator yammering
