Your "engineering" speak is just a smoke screen.
Automotive systems are capable of supplying hundreds of amps to a dead short. IF the vehicle is running and the alternator tries to actively participate in supplying current to that short, IT likely will go up in smoke.
You don't need an engineering degree to figure that out.
