It's probably the furnace PLUS the other stuff. Your old B had a smaller one and probably didn't use as much power. The furnace in my old 30 ft 5er used 9 amps while running. Also, standard lighting draws quite a bit too. With two batteries, charge time is faster overall because both can accept more amps than one. Also, you get the benefit of having a bit more capacity with two (Peukert effect).
EDIT: Let me explain "bit more capacity". One grp 24 is ~85 amp hours (Ah). Two is 170 Ah doing math BUT because of Peukert, it's actually a bit more than that.
