YOu said your new battery is a Marine Starter/Deep cycle. that is the classic Marine/Deep cycle which as I said is really a starting battery.
The significant difference between starting batteries and deep cycle is this:
If you really run them down (50% or less) DEEP CYCLE bounce back better. Take a starting battery down that low and serious damage happens, but DEEP CYCLE will often bounce back, I can't tell you how many times I've "oopsed" with my Interstate U-2200s (*one of the GC-2 type batteries).
Go for the upgrade when you can.. In maintenance free battery types look for a TROLLING battery, these are believed to be deep cycle.
The inclusion of CA or CCA on the label indicates starting battery USUALLY. by the way. (Not always but usually).
DEEP cycle will carry Amp HOur.
And on that, another beware: Some places (Wal-mart) will give you the "Amp hours at the one amp rate"
Alas, there is no official standard but for comparison we tend to use the 20 hour rate (That is amp hours at the rate where the battery is discharged in 20 hours) A battery that Wally-World puts over 100 AH, may be less than 75 at the 20 hour rate.
