The better morningstars seem to have full programmability for voltage and duration of every stage. Fixed voltage and only a single charge stage seems like it would be a very bad compromise as the only charging option, unless you knew you were never getting to float. Then it could work, but you'd have problems over time unless you had another way to recharge and get back to a charged state.
I am with BFL- more options make it more likely you can get the batteries to the state you want. I'm actually finding the little. 15A DC to DC charger pretty flexible. It needs baby sitting but it is an efficient way to top charge using not many amp hours.
