To sum up and reiterate what I am trying to acheive:
-minimal generator run time
-primary charge system would be a 200 watt solar array
-BACK UP would be a 2000 watt Honda running a CONVERTER at approximately 45 amps WHILE IN BULK MODE!IN THE MORNING! then I would shut it off and allow solar to FINISH the charge.
Equipment I intend to purchase :
-2x225ah 6 volt batteries (probably Costco or Sam's Club)
-2X100 watt Bosch panels from Windynation.com $168per. Set up as folding portable to get to the sun.
-Prostar 45 amp charge controller, temperature compensated
-Iota 55 amp charger from Backwoods Solar reconfigured to output 14.8 volts through absorbtion phase OR an Iota IQ4 smart charger. This will minimize generator runtime.
-Trimetric 2025 battery monitor
-leds for all lights
I intend to move the converter from under the couch to near the batteries to minimize voltage drop. The whole system will be wired to minimize drop.
To restate, we are EXTREMELY tight with resources. We used to run up to a week with out running the van's engine on a 90ah battery (of course it was DEAD by then) we have NOTHING that uses AC, we will only run a couple of lights at a time at nite to read, we have really thick blankets etc. etc.
Given the above criteria......PLEASE CRITISIZE!!!!!!
