Mexicowanderer, I didn't get a couple points.

Why not? If the panels are putting out 18 volts, controlled down to 14.8, then delivered by short runs of heavy wire, for a period of sunshine sufficient to deliver the amps lost?

2% ?? Did you mean 20%?
