No surprise that the tire shops wouldn't put LT's directly on the trailer. Smart/reputable shops refuse to do so because LT's are NOT designed for the use. Naturally, they don't want to be held responsible for such an application.

Lovin' that the Montana "LT235/85R16G" is a trailer tire SIZE, and those supposed "LT's" are marked "trailer service only".

Wow, such a leap to conclusions!! The LT tires that came on my 2003(10 years ago) Montana Big Sky were 235/80R-16, and wait for it:
E rated tires.
After having 2 ST tires on my 2010 toyhauler blow out in less than 8,000 miles I decided ST tires are not the tire of choice for large heavy trailers. Oh yeah, the tires on the Big Sky were 5 years old when I changed them out for...more LT tires. :)
And you did avoid the question of why, if "LT's are NOT designed for the use" (your quote) did Keystone put them on my 5th wheel? And I've seen some high end units that came with LT tires on them. If "LT's are NOT designed for the use" why would they do that?
