I'm basically using method 2 there- but I'm not seeing how that is unbalanced- they give .0015 ohms per link, and if you add up the number of jumpers, current to each battery travels through the exact same number. Now if there is a difference in resistance in the hot leg and ground, that could do it, but I believe current will always be the same, irregardless as to where the added resistance is.
I do firmly believe in balancing the batteries- the diagram I used to use on this bank was not nearly as good- single hot and ground hookup to the entire 9 battery bank- now I do three hookups to the three banks.
While it would be nice to"star" all 9, there simply isn't room.
