devices for surge protection

Hi,

If I add a MOV type device in parallel to the shore power cord will it offer some down stream protection to my RV?
  • Not the question I asked. I have no interest in either PI or SG products.

We use portable surge guard. Simply and easy. It has a loop you could use to lock it to the power pole. When I buy a new RV, I will have one installed inside the power center.
  • No, I only want surge protection. I check before I plug in.

You really want more than just surge protection. Look into an EMS system which will protect you from under/over voltage, open ground, open neutral, reversed polarity. they are available as built-in or portable units. Progressive Industries or SurgeGuard.

  • Looks like a Mex question. Google shows schematics for such a device.
