devices for surge protection

Hi,

If I add a MOV type device in parallel to the shore power cord will it offer some down stream protection to my RV?

    Not the question I asked. I have no interest in either PI or SG products.

    No, I only want surge protection. I check before I plug in.

    Looks like a Mex question. Google shows schematics for such a device.
