Dicor or Eterna Bond for Roof Repair

Ok gang looking for your collective advice and experience. I found a small tear in the rubber roof yesterday. It's U shaped and about 3/8" X 3/8" in size, likely from a small tree limb hitting the roof. Is it better to seal it with Dicor or Eterna Bond or both?
  • I would use both.
Use Dicor as the pros do to seal the Eternabond edges to keep water out and for a professional look.

I have had several tears like that from backing into forested camp sites. I lifted up the torn flap and pumped caulking under the tear to rebond it back to the substructure, then flatten out the caulking. The repair is barely visible.

3/8" square is a pretty small tear. You'll be happy with either dicor or eternabond. Dicor will leave about a 1" round dab and cost you the price of a tube. You'd probabably cut a 3" square with eternabond, and then I'd dicor the edges anyway.
My thoughts too. I used some Eternabond on some spots and had the edges curl up a little. I repaired a small tear with Dicor repair kit. It came with a patch about a foot square and a tube of Dicor. I just cut out the size patch I needed. Worked a treat.
  • I used Dicor for a similar job on my roof. Held up fine for eight years, and counting. And I used the remaining $3 tube for beefing up other areas of the roof system.
  • I have used EB on 3 RVs, and it's good stuff. If I had some on hand and I had your damage, it's what I'd use. BUT if I didn't already have it, I would be perfectly fine with Dicor for such a small tear.

  • Eternabond. It's a one time repair.

Dicor is a great product but, to repair a torn roof Eternabond is the best choice.

Clean the area well before applying the Eternabond.
  • Personally, I would use Eternabond, unless you already have the Dicor. As part of PM, I applied Eternabond on my roof seams, and was amazed at how easy it is to apply. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it.
