Dim dash lights

The dash lights on our 91 "C" class Fleetwod sitting on a Chevy G-30 van chassis are so dim you can hardly see them even at night. I have tried a different bulb and have tried to find replacement LED lights and as far as I can tell they don't exist. Any suggestions?

  • My dash light dimmer control works perfectly and the illumination is perfect...

    For a bat...
  • Yea, in 1991, the headlights were turned on by pulling the knob out. First click was the parking lights. Second click out was the head lights. Turn the knob clockwise and the dash lights dimmed and could actually be turned completely off. Turn counter-clockwise and the dash lights would brighten up. I miss the simplicity of that. Both my current vehicles do not shut the dash lights off completely. I miss driving with no light on the dash at night.
  • Yes, as others said, try the dimmer dial on the push pull headlamp switch.

Do note that LED bulbs likely will not properly dim. I installed some 194/ T10 LEDS and they were way too bright and would not dim properly. they would dim only a little, then shut off,

I wound up buying red incandescent 194's. Surprisingly they run cooler than the red LED's did.
  • Again there should be a dial somewhere to adjust brightness. There has been one on every vehicle I have ever driven.

Always been this way? Are you sure there isn't a knob or slide that's gotten moved from Brighter toward Dimmer?
