Dim lights

We've been in the same spot here at the RV park for a week. Today we noticed that the lights seem to be dimmer. It's a 50 amp park and we are using a 30 amp adapter. (stayed here many times over the years) I've checked the batteries, they are about two years old and I recently topped them off with water. Everything seems to be working, it's just the lights are dimmer, even the one in the refrigerator. Is there something obvious I should check?

  • In a pinch you can always put a battery charger on the batteries for a while. Turn off charger before connecting or disconnecting, you don't want a spark at that time.
  • Wires to battery all seem to be secured. Checking now the manual re. the converter circuit breaker. I may have to wait till Monday to call a service person.
  • We found the same once. Found a weak connection on the converter negative feed to the battery. Wiggled the wires, suddenly the lights got bright!
  • Do you have any 12 volt voltage readout in the RV? If not I'd scrounge up a voltmeter and check voltage at batteries. With RV plugged in and power converter on it should be at least 13.2 volts (or at least close).

Also check circuit breaker for power converter and be sure it is on.
