Do AGM's charge quicker?

Sigh! Why can't an armored car do a flip and fling a gunnysack through my window? Actually that wouldn't work -- I'd return it and pray for a reward.

a drop in battery has BMS for the battery 'built in' to manage the cells

you the 'end user' does not have access to individual cell info
unless the Mfg, includes a data plug and interface for collecting such data

the few 'drop ins' i have looked at, did not have that ability

One thing with drop in batteries is that you don't know what individual cells are doing, they'll tell you soc and some other misc info but you just don't know what the cells are doing. If they aren't prismatic cells how do individually monitor a mass group of small batteries put in series other than the end product of a 100ah battery.

Thank you itinerant. The Christmas light bulb current limitation might discourage me from doing lithium. I play with six cell series parallel tiny lithium batteries and I wonder how how thorough the monitoring and control has to be?

Voltage limitation
Heat

And over discharge.

Without an ability to charge and monitor each cell separately the concept to me is incomplete. Maybe I am off on a wrong track.

Some do some don't. As in all things homework needs to be done.

Like any battery system the more control or live time info wanted end user might have pay extra for those wants.
