Trojan AGM charging instructions want 20% rate, but also say that is the maximum. But then they say "recommended". Kind of wishy-washy.
Years ago a member on here reported his conversation with a Trojan tech who said there was no limit on initial charging amps in Bulk despite the Trojan 10% story for charging rate for (Foooded) longest life. That fits with the idea the battery will have an acceptance rate you cannot exceed. Just go lower SOC at the start of charging to use a higher rate.
https://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/TrojanBattery_UsersGuide.pdfLifeline seems to be the only one who does not have a max charging rate. However, it is true of any battery that there is a maximum acceptance rate for a particular SOC at a particular voltage.
To use the high acceptance rate of Lifeline, you need to specify the charging voltage (14.4 has been stated) and what SOC. If 50% SOC limits the charging rate to about the same as the others', then what are we talking about?
So the real question is what DOD do Lifelines have to be so that you can use those amazingly high charging rates at 14.4v set on the charger? (Where you do have the high amps and enough gen to run the charger at those high amps)
