Domestic RM2852 piezoelectric fires over and over again.
The fridge works fine on both gas and electric but I can hear the piezoelectric going off continuously on either setting. I just bought this fridge 6 months ago....

Been seeing this thread and the title bothers me
Piezoelectric ignition units are hand powered. you either push a button that bends a crystal till "SNAP" it sparks. or you turn a knob doing the same thing. Piezoelectric systems use one or more quartz crystals or other crystals that when flexed or bent generate electricity.. LOTS of volts. not much amps though.
Now Direct Spark Ignition systems.... Well a high voltage electric generator (Inverter) or coil system generates the spark voltage.
No piezoelectric about it. Same as the ignition on your car. Build up a magnetic field in a coil. and dump it. The collapsing field causes a very high voltage pulse.
