Dometic 9100 electric awning

My search of the internet has failed to come up with the instructions or video on how to replace the fabric on a 9100 electric awning. Several videos re: the manual models with the torsion springs in both ends. Is there a torsion spring in the non-motor end of the 9100? Any first hand experience or advice would be appreciated.

  • I replaced the fabric on our travel trailer that had the 9100 awning , and yes it has the torsion spring on the non-motorized end. It does also have a little more tension than the manual models. From what I remember, the instructions that came with the fabric, and the online videos, called for 9-10 turns on each end, and mine took 12-13. The reason I know how many turns is the cotter pin I used (which was the recommended size) bent to the point I had to take the tension assembly apart. Not something I recommend if you can avoid it. I would recommend using a hardened pin punch instead.
  • I've already done the slide topper fabrics which took about 2 hours for the three slides. The 9100 is the patio awning and as I stated I've had no luck finding instructions.
  • How to replace slide awning.

The process is probably pretty generic. Lock the arms, lock the springs and replace the fabric. Watched them do it in the dealership other than being a 2 person job it looked pretty straight forward.

I'd also imagine an instruction sheet would come with the new awning material.

Went to the Heartland Forum since they have a section full on manuals and could not find anything there. In the forums they say it's pretty easy to do just helpful to have an extra body to help.

    Good luck.
