Dometic fridge getting warmer

In the past couple of days our fridge has been getting warmer.

Normal temp stays at 36 unless a door has been left ajar, excessive heat on the side of the trailer or fridge has been loaded with warm food.

None of this applys.

The fridge is the 4 door Dometic, 2007 with icemaker & water dispenser in the door.

Power is at the plug at the back. Good AC voltage. Fuse back there is good. Tried switching to propane (gained a degree). Tried turning off for a few minutes then back on. Hours later, no change. Temp is rising.

I am stumped & 2 weeks into a 7 week trip.

  • Nothing. Zero cooling. Checked fuses what must be mother board for the fridge in the back. Both OK as is fuse in external holder back there. No evidence of anything burnt on motherboard but that means little.

Put it on propane for the night just to see what, if anything, happens.
  • Your model should have the cooling fans on the back side. You CAN hear them running if you remove the back access door outside. IF they are NOT running, that is your problem. Regardless, get a small 120 volt cooling fan that will fit on the outside backside of the refer and turn it ON blowing upwards. You may have to rig it in place with hanger wire or wire ties. Wait 24 hours and see if the refer cools correctly. USE that fan until you can get the original fans fixed. You have to pull the refer to replace those fans. Doug
  • How is the temp in the freezer. My Dometic sprung a leak in the cooling unit and was doing the same thing. Had the entire Fridge replaced. Mine was a 2 door unit. A lot of YELLOW powder was coming out of the back vent.

    Hi, Skipper!

Are all those doors closing properly? If for some reason the gaskets aren't making full contact, the cooling unit cannot keep up with the exchange of cool air inside for warm air outside.
  • Does your refrigerator have a switch at the top of the door that keeps the light on when the door is closed? Hold the door switch in and see if the light goes off, if not look for a switch or two at the top of the door. One of them controls the light.

    Hope this helps.
