Dometic Fridge not cooling

My Dometic Fridge stopped working yesterday, either on gas or electric. It is at least 10 yrs old.

Should I repair it or get a new one ?
Should I replace it with a residential unit that only runs on AC ?

I checked the recall list and I don't see the model or serial numbers on the recall list.

I dont have much room for a residential as my furnace and water pump are under my fridge.

Thanks
  • Have you checked the fuses on the circuit board?
Has it had the recalls done if on list?

it has not worked for over 24 hours now, temps are 60 to 80 degrees
  • What is your temps there? If fridge is too cold, unit will not run and fridge and freezer will not cool. Solution is to open fridge door and run heat for a bit. Then try again.

All lights are on, inside fridge and outside on the display.
No Yellow stuff in outside compartment/

  • I would have the existing one checked out before making a decision.
Does your display show any lights or codes? No would indicate no 12 volt control power.
Yes, it is possible that the control board is bad.
Look in the outside compartment for any debris or yellow substance. present would indicate a failure of the cooling unit. If cooling unit is bad, then a big decision. I personally would go with totally new unit. Replacing a cooling unit and you still have all the other components being old waiting for next item to fail.
  • Go to "rvcoolingunit.com" . They have the new Amish cooling units. I have one. It works much better than the original unit and is cost effective.
