May not apply to this issue but I believe there was a recall on those awnings for a bad motor causing them to deploy while in motion. You might be able to verify by checking the model and serial numbers at the Dometic website. I had a 2013 Keystone Bullet (briefly) and got a recall notice for the awning. It rings a bell.
Thanks. The only recall I could find was for some 2013 units. Pretty sure mine is 2012. I will double check, because it seems the tag I found was specifically for the arm only. But pretty sure I bought the trailer in 2012, it is a 2013 model year.
Like I said, I'm just guessing based on my brief ownership experience. Wouldn't be the first time a trailer/motor home model year had prior year parts installed. My current chassis is a 2017. My model year is 2018. Good luck with it.
EDIT:
I was looking through some old docs and found the reference to the recall and from the Dometic site, the recall was for a very limited number of awnings manufactured in early 2013 -
" This potential condition affects only the power awning products manufactured between February 13, 2013, (306XXXXX serial #) through April 9, 2013, (314XXXXX serial #). The serial # appears on a label on the right underside of the fabric and on the roller tube. On the power awning field Motor Service Kit the serial # appears on the end cap of the shipping tube."
Our awning was a 309XXXXX serial # - if yours was dated 2012, then you should be OK on the recall.
Again, hope you find a fix for it. :)
