Try finding a shop and see if they will just hand you one- they don't cost the shop. I've replaced a number of them, if your not careful, the fuse winds up against the bottom of the heating element. It needs to be next to the burner, but not touching anything.
Chris, Dometic is very insistent that you NEVER hand recall parts over the counter. If a Shop does, THEY have the liability if something goes wrong. Doug
Yeah- I would worry about that if nearly half of the recall kits I see were not installed wrong in the first place. I have reinstalled at least a dozen- for free- and replaced another dozen thermal fuses- again for free. Now I don't have a problem doing this, but most shops are going to charge the minimum labor charge, so the customer winds up paying $50-$100 to replace a defective $0.75 part, or they are going to spend some time on the phone to Dometic.
Heck- I have mailed the limit switches because the official Dometic policy was if it broke, you had to buy a new cooling unit. I mean, please...
I think we are talking about 2 different parts. From the OP's description, he is talking about the black wrapped FLAME thermal fuse mount on the back wall. As to the THERMAL disc, Dometic does indeed state to rob a Disc out of a recall kit to replace a failed one on a refer. Dometic sent me about 5 disc's a few years ago for current model replacement that the disc, if fails, to replace. Dometic states they WILL pay labor for a recall kit failure if you call for Auth. Doug
