The technician is suppose to call Dometic tomorrow with a report on the (repair) retrofit. He has already said that even though there are at least 35 units in our park, he will NOT go in the business of mass repair of these units.
It will take at least 30 minutes for the paperwork. If the units do not require any changes in the wood frame, cabinet (behind the refrigerator), etc. it may be possible to do the job in 15 minutes. If the unit requires any changes, it could be a 2 to 3 hour job.
There is also the issue of travel time, trip charges, travel charges for the rv owner, etc. He is going to tell Dometic that they will have multiple issues for any dealer, repair facility, etc. doing this service.
He is in a 360 unit park, all rv (no park models) no travel time, very convenient access, and the numbers will not work for him. Imagine what a mess that this is going to be for a dealer or an independent repair facility with calls from Tom, Dick, and Harry.
At this point Dometic is listening. The repair bulletin does say 2/2007 on the cover, so I am convinced that this is a seat of your pants project. The parts were shipped by overnight air to Florida.
More tomorrow for additional details.
