As stated several times already, this is not a "fix" or "repair"; it's a band aid designed by Dometic attorneys to minimize law suits. Rumor has it, that if the fires continue after the Dometic solution, step two is to send everyone a box of baking soda to throw on the fire. Just a rumor mind you. No company would actually think that little about customers, would they?
Next time around it's a Norcold.
HA HA! I also can't help but feel this way. Trying to initiate compensation for my customer's $4k in repairs over the last few years has proven to be a big waste of time. They have a time limit for this.
Quote: "Time Limitation:
To be covered, the pre-recall repair must have occurred no earlier than August 28, 2005."
How much sense does this make? Still trying to figure this one out. That time limitation eliminates any reinbursement for the 1st 3 cooling units. So, what about the 4th remedy you ask? Well, after the 3rd cooing core failed (installed late in 04 & failed Nov 2006), my customer opted to replace the entire refer. So in Dec 06 we installed a brand new RM2862. Okay, so we beat the time limitation this time.....yippie!
Oh wait, here's another limitation.....Quote: "Exclusions:
Dometic's program does not include reimbursement for a pre-notification remedy that was not reasonably necessary to correct the defect involved in the recall;" Thanks Dometic, you guys are really swell! Tim
