Oh boy - no 2....
Everyone comes to this forum for different reasons. And each of us take away different things from it. In this case, this post is all about education and information that deals with a common issue across many brands of TT's and camping lifestyles. The issue is real even if the rate of the failure is extremely small.
Education and information is one of the biggest things about this forum that make it so popular.
I am glad people are measuring and trying to figure this issue out. It is one of the things that makes this site so powerful. And giving technical data for others to follow "if" they choose to. It's your chose. You can ignore it, act on it or do what ever they want with it. By sharing our findings, others can build on it, understand it and then make up their own mind. Do I do something, or do nothing?
In all I have read there is no "fix" to the problem. The recall actions that we know of to date, deal with shielding the problem from starting your camper on fire. Yet the actual root cause of the problem is still there. It is then a matter of time and circumstance if your unit will develop a leak. Then you have to chose what to do with it if it occurs to you. If I missed the actual "fix" to the problem, please tell me which page to go read it on.
Dometic has made an official notice that for the units affected to only operate the fridge under certain conditions. They very politely and tactfully tell you to not go to sleep in the camper with the unit operating. :E Boy that is a real comforting feeling. Now due to this great Internet tool we have, some of us know about that. Now us who know have to figure out what to do about. Listen to it or not. It's your chose.
For those of us who choose to try to figure this out, please keep posting as much data as you have. The talent that exists here on the Open Roads forum is immense.
Mel has graciously made the first page of this post all the official notices we know of. And he updates it as soon as he get's it. For those who do not care about the data, just reread the first few pages every so often or just plain wait for your TT manufacture to call you. It's your chose.
Happy camping and may spring hurry up and get here....
