Failures I've seen occurred on the main boiler tube on the 1st weld up from the bottom elbow. This area is not readily visible as it is enclosed inside the sheet metal cowling and buried under fiber glass insulation.
Hi Tim this is the first piece of factual and important information we've seen so far. This first weld, would it be a weld securing the "Element Holder" to the boiler tube?
I didn't strip the aluminum housing or the insulation away from the boiler tube on mine to get a good look at the area for fear of disturbing something I shouldn't. In any case just eyeballing the area would prove nothing. If it hasn't failed you'll see no indication of failure, and if it failed you won't have to look very hard.

Do you have any of the affected fitting area and the probe interaction?
Hi John, By "the affected fitting area" if you mean the element holder and the welded area. no I don't have a photo of that. I have a photo of the new element being inserted into the "Element Holder"

I seriously doubt I'll be on the road with it before late May or June and hopefully the Dometic modification on it will be completed by then. After that I intend to continue using both AC and propane as the location requires.
