Tim, Where on the tubing were the failures you have seen? I hope he had good coverage.
Thanks, John
Failures I've seen occurred on the main boiler tube on the 1st weld up from the bottom elbow. This area is not readily visible as it is enclosed inside the sheet metal cowling and buried under fiber glass insulation. And no, he had no warranty or coverage. He has paid for each and every repair out of pocket. Tim
PS: on a side note, the original heating element was re-used each and every time cooling core was replaced. I had no knowledge of any potential problems here and didn't see a reason to replace it. In hindsight, I suspect that element killed all 3 units. The question I now have is: When did Dometic know about this? Evidently they knew something was up or they wouldn't have redesigned elements. A service bulletin about potential problems from Dometic would have been nice & could have saved this guy some money.....not to mention the risk. And yes, Dometic is now putting a high temp cut-off switch in this area on new refers. Tim

Thank you very much for sharing this. It really helps my understanding of the part of the problem.
Would you happen to have a few good pics of the area that the probe inserts and where the cracks develop?
With all the insulation on, it is hard to see what is actually in side.
Thanks
John
PS. A high temp cutoff switch and the return to lower wattage heater elements. OK some one knew to change something. Both of these areas are way to limit the amount of heat and thus thermal expansion stresses that can come from the higher heat.
