Okay, I can see where the circulating refrigerant would act as a "coolant" to disperse the heat.
But the idea of something glowing red-hot in close proximity to combustibles, e.g., the wood paneling visible in the first photo, wouldn't leave me with a good feeling.
And the smoke . . . something must have at least been smoldering pretty well.
Gotta wonder how close it came to being a real, serious fire.
