Nope. The wattage of the 12V element in a 3 way fridge is the same as the 110V, so I see no problem in switching pockets.
Edit:
Upon further investigation, the above is not true for newer double door fridges. The older units had same-wattage elements, but the newer units have much lower wattage on the 12V side. I should do more research before shooting off my mouth.
I still see no reason for not being able to use the 12V pocket as an alternative. The element pockets appear to be constructed with the same guage material.
