Hi Tim, yes that's a great overview of the thread. As suggested I do believe we have learned a lot from this discussion. I already have installed a new element, but in warmer weather I believe I will move it to the 12 volt element pocket.
The only thing I'm seeing now is the differences in registering for the "fix". As PackerBacker suggested I called the number again to check if I was still on the list "I wasn't registered" so although I talked to a young lady I'm still not sure. I asked her why they requested the VIN number if it wasn't required, she then decided it was. Then she told me they would send a letter when they found the nearest Dometic Dealer. So I asked what was wrong with "Stones RV" just down the road from me. So then it was OH! yes they are one of our preferred dealers and that I could ask them to order a kit after Apr.16. Guess I'd better drop in to see the lads just in case they might know what's going on. I don't know but maybe they have more than one call center answering the calls.
