dometic refrig automatic thermostat question

we have a 2014 thor class c with a dometic automatic thermostat refrigerator. this coach is new to us. we plugged in to electric three hours ago, the freezer is cooling but the bottom part does not feel cool at all. I have read that it is an adsorption cooling system and it can require an extended running time to cool.
also there is a slider thingy on one of the cooling fins in the bottom i assume you can move it up and down to adjust cooling cause there is a sticker on the frig wall saying cooler, warmer,
So my question is
1 how long will it take to cool down the refrig part?
and
2 what is that slider thing?
thanks

  • 12 hrs. minimum for Refrigerator to cool......
Freezer section needs to get down to 10*F or colder before you will get sufficient cooling in food section.

    Thermistor.....

That is the temp sensor in food section that the thermostat uses for temperature control.
Thermostat is factory preset to control for 38*F to 42*F in food section.
Very minor affect can be made by movement of thermistor location on far right fin (4*F to 6*F change)
Clip should be mid-position with tip (bulb) of thermistor just protruding above clip.
    Move UP for cooler temps
Move DOWN for less cooler temps
Wait overnight after movement to check for change in temps
  • This may help, it is what we do before packing the TT. Freeze a half to one gallon container of water a few days before you start to pack the frig. Put the frozen container in the frig and start packing. This will help get the frig colder sooner and still keep your food from going bad.
  • on most every rv frig it takes ten hours to get cold, there very slow. and it cools faster on gas.if your going camping on sat ,,turn it on thurs .afternoon. uses very little gas.
  • The slider is the thermistor. Move upwards for colder & down for warmer.

Or to remember it better NORTH for cold, South for warm.

I mounted an internal fan that also helps with the cooling of the frig.

    I have a Dometic Americana RM2652
  • I figure 24 hours for my dometic to get down to a stable temp and only THEN do I add COLD items to the fridge, I don't intentionally put anything in the fridge to cool it down..

Absorption fridges, don't have the thermal capacity to rapidly cool down.

What refer do you have? Could take more than 12 hours to start cooling the refer section... patience. Moving the thing on the fins (thermistor) may change the temp on some units and not on others.
  • It takes 24 hours for the refer to reach maximum cool. The slider thingy is you can slide it up and down to change the Auto preset interior temp about 4 degrees. The normal temp location is about 38 degrees. you can slide it to change from 33/34 to 41/42. Doug
