Dometic refrigerator heating element

Hello,

I am in the process of replacing my cooling unit. My heating element came out of the tube with some gentle taps. My question is should I go ahead and replace the element with the rebuild or not. I can get one for $50 or so online. This element is 12 years old.

Once I get this back in I do not want any more issues so rather address everything now.

Thanks!

Dave

  • My refrig. rebuild unit had 2 loops for the heating element put them both in when you rebuild it and run the wires out the slot then if the new one goes out all you have to do is plug wires.

    OP here!

This actually makes the most sense.

I've already spent $600 on a rebuilt cooling unit, double fans to be mounted on the rear, and a baffle to direct the air over the cooling fins. Another $50 and everything will be new and hopefully good for many years to come.

Why would you pay to rebuild or replace your radiator and then reuse years old antifreeze? ALWAYS replace the 120 element. Norcold Replacement CU's come with new 120 elements. Just not cost effective to use the old element. Doug

  • Or not replace. My heating element is original and 21 years old.
