dometic rm2652 thermo fuse?

My 07 fridge is acting weird, it clicks like it wants to light on propane, which I'm out, but won't run on 110. The element is hot, or very warm at least to the touch, but fridge not cooling. I put a jumper on the little t24lc thermo fuse on the heater shroud and the fridge will cool so I'm guessing that t24 unit is done. But why is the heater on with the thermo fuse out, I thought once hot the fridge would need to cool a little at least.

Is there a part number for the t24lc fuse, the nearest dealer is 20 miles and won't be able to get me one this week
  • You need to add the refrigerator model number and someone may be able to help.
  • Rm2652

The thermo fuse should me manually resettable, doesn't seem to want to
  • The Thermo fuse shuts the complete refer down. The refer should not click or anything if the thermo is tripped. Verify that you have 12 volts on both spades of the Thermo. Doug
  • On page 9 near the cylindrical ducting the heating element 68 is in, it should be right near it I don't see it. Maybe mine was a recall add-on

The Recall expanded to 2006 refer model years. So, your model may have been built in 2006 and installed in a 2007 RV. Then the recall was added to your refer. Doug

I just took a look at my own two year old Dometic DM2652 which is the same as your RM version and yes, on the lower portion of the cylindrical duct (Item 68) there is a thermofuse. It's mounted to the outside of that duct, is about 3/4" in diameter, and has two fairly heavy gauge red wires connected to it. Have you bothered to read Item 5.14 on Page 18 of that Diagnostic Manual I linked to earlier? ... if so you won't like the answer which in part says "When the fuse pops it is normally an indication the cooling unit has a problem and the cooling unit will have to be replaced." Not what you want to hear, I'm sure.

BTW, I suspect the reason the thermofuse doesn't have a separate part number or is even shown on those parts breakdown drawings is that it comes as part of a new cooling unit, my bet being it's not even available as a separate part. For a current DM2652 that cooling unit carries part #2934606100.
  • Yes, i did read that but u know parts get old sometimes, I'd replace it and if the new one keeps popping then I'd get a new fridge. 20 bucks to try if I can
  • Dometic states they do have the Thermal disc as a separate part. If the refer is under Dometic warranty, we take one out of a Recall kit and then Dometic sends us a new one. I have not had a Thermal disc fail when the refer is OUT of the original warranty. The OP stated that the refer cooled on 120, but was concerned about the Thermal. IF the Recall was installed CORRECTLY, the refer will NOT operate at all and no lights if the Thermal disc is OPEN and bad. Doug

Thanks, that is what I was worried about, the fuse should have stopped it.
