Buying jumper cables:

I was trying to, last summer or the one before. It is hard to find something that is not CCA. And they are not always labeled correctly! You have to look inside the clamp for yourself, maybe scrape at the wire. One store, I had to ask the clerk to let me open the package.

Best bet it to buy used. Garage sales, Goodwill, etc.

800,000 tons of copper ingots would avalanche the copper market. Markets and people who play the commodities game are psychotic IMO. After the crash they would run around thoroughly convinced a billion ton dump "is forthcoming". Look at the history of THE HUNT BROTHERS and silver. That was long enough ago to be before the age of "ME!" Then came Orange juice, Coffee, and Anti-Freeze.

People who do NOTHING for a living fully deserve to be paid commensurately. Look what greedy Bank speculators did to the Looney. It is now laughingly called "The Canadian Peso". Go to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and discover why sixty cents worth of metal is now worth ten dollars. They wanted petroleum $. What these fool Canadian Banks got was a petroleum BUST and the Canadian people are paying the tab.

NINETY FIVE PERCENT of the world's population use 5% of the electrical metals. There are tens of millions of people down here in Mexico who own 3% of the copper that the average American consumer has. So pure number population #'s game stats are misleading.

Mex, metal prices go up mostly due to domestic demand of China (and India). People have jobs - making all that cr-ap, everybody is buying a new bicycle or TV, few pounds of aluminum, few ounces of copper. Multiply this by 2.5 billion - if your calculator has that many zeros - and 800,000 tons will look line nothing.
A bit of speculation goes on as well. Their govt is a major player there.

The jumper cables were connected correctly. A Mitsubishi Montera starting a 460 Ford F250 engine. Leo said she had hit the key for "several" seconds. 000 Cca cables would have worked OK but 3/0 cables are a little hard to stow. I wish I had 800,000 tons of copper to dump on the market and bankrupt the speculative maggots that drive copper price insane.

Jumper cables ?? Any 10ga copper wire w/ decent clamps will do just fine.
Starting cables ?? (designed to start an old carberated 460 w/ a stone dead battery) Now that's a whole nother story !

Picked up a camera tripod the other day - free. Was wondering why would anybody throw it away. Remember heavy tripods back in the day? It had to have a mass, to provide stability. Wow. Have never seen aluminum tubing that thin, could bend it with my fingers.

They must be laughing their skinny arses off down there.

I have some of that. It is for drip watering my wife's hanging plants. ... hmmm ... it isn't really garden hose.

I have had some old set for about 20 years, no idea if they're good bad or just ugly, but so far they've worked as needed. Never gave much thought to what goes into a good set or a dangerous set of cables.
