Dou therm AC unit clicks when turning AC unit on

My AC unit on a 05 Cherokee when I turn the AC on I can hear a click from the AC unit area but nothing else is heard the fan doe not come on either check the fan to make ute it was not stuck and it moves freely when turned any thought. Did not see a starter capacitor our nothing on it either

  • There was a start capacitor and a not here one the bigger one looked like it had been leaking acid
    The smaller starter capacitor had a burnt spot on the top I think I found the issue!

    ALWAYS turn the 120 breakers OFF and then ON again when checking. They can trip and they look like they are not tripped. Doug

    AS noted, your controls are 12 volt and that is the click you hear. The Fan and Compressor must have 120 volts. So, no 120 to the unit or AC and the AC will not run. Doug
  • should have a round canister on roof unit....check to see if it is swelled up at wire end...if so replace...start capacitor
