Accuride makes a manual latching slide. An old trick (before there were self closing slides) was to install the slides on an angle, downward. That does provide some tension for the drawer when closed.
Magnets are a top-notch idea. I've used them in RV's and they work well. A neodymium magnet pair of 3/8" diameter will hold almost any drawer shut. The disc magnets can be inset in a 3/8" hole with epoxy. If they are inset a small amount, they can be covered with veneer or wood filler so they disappear. I use one of these Dowel center pins to align the magnets.
