Thanks for the recommendations smkettner, since the original post I've been eyeing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B8L8MD2 but ideally I would want a controller that I can monitor the input from.
I noticed that some controllers have solar input, battery output, and load output while others just have solar input and battery output. How important is it to have that load output vs just running through the battery?
